The Canadian Adult Education Credential (CAEC) exam is Canada’s new high school equivalency assessment. It replaced the GED test in 2024.
The exam is for adult learners who:
- don’t have a high school diploma
- are looking to earn an education credential for better educational, employment, and training opportunities
The CAEC indicates that the holder possesses high school-level skills and knowledge, without having completed a secondary school curriculum. You can learn more about the advantages of having a CAEC in this post.
The Canadian Adult Education Credential (CAEC) exam is offered in English and French, and contains five individual, modular subtests that can be taken, if wished, one at a time. The five modules assess proficiency in
- writing
- reading
- mathematics
- social studies
- science
To pass the CAEC assessment and receive your Canadian High School Equivalency Certificate, you must answer at least 55 percent of the questions correctly on each of the five subtests.
Candidates can take the CAEC exam up to three times in a single calendar year, but the third attempt cannot be made within three months of the first attempt.
There are a few good online CAEC prep courses for students who understand what it takes to study independently. The advantages of learning with a good online program, like Cansego, are apparent.
You can learn when, where, and what you want, which allows you to go through the material much faster than with a set program at a physical prep site.
However, a significant number of CAEC candidates perform better when they study under a teacher’s guidance. For these students, we have compiled the following overview.
On this page, we list the CAEC prep facilities and test centres in New Brunswick:
